About us
Hold Norge Rent (HNR) is Keep Norway Beautiful (KNB) – a non-profit membership organization dedicated to combating litter.

Keep Norway Beautiful’s vision
KNB’s vision is a beautiful Norway, free of littering.
KNB is founded on the principle that littering is a shared responsibility. To succeed in solving the litter problem, all stakeholders need to contribute.
KNB is a non-profit organization working to eradicate litter and littering, and we work both to clean up litter and prevent littering by facilitating voluntary clean-ups, gathering and disseminating knowledge and holding the sources of littering accountable.

Main activities
Litter prevention
KNB has engaged industry and local authorities alike in several projects aimed at preventing littering at its source. KNB hosts workshops and seminars, provides guidelines and gathers data relevant for litter prevention for all stakeholders.
Clean up activities
Facilitating volunteer clean-ups and mobilizing volunteers to join in lies in KNB’s backbone.
In addition, gathering citizen science data has always been a central part of KNB’s work. KNB’s citizen science data is published in our annual clean-up report. This data has played a vital role in Norway’s fight against littering, contributing to policy change and ensuring funding to clean up marine litter in Norway. KNB also has an adopt-a-spot programme. Through this programme volunteers can adopt an area in their local community keeping it clean and beautiful.

Litter monitoring and knowledge sharing
KNB gathers data on litter and littering behaviour in a wide range of activities and projects. We have a litter monitoring programme for rivers and lakes, and we monitor two beaches through the OSPAR beach litter monitoring programme.
Every year KNB hosts a national conference on marine litter. Additionally, KNB has an awareness campaign on the topic of leaving no trace and to establish litter free habits.
National and international networks
KNB coordinates a national network of clean-up organizations (NFO), as well as the network Nordic Coastal Clean Up. KNB is also a member of the Clean Europe Network, the International Waste Platform and the Global Partnership on Marine Litter,
